A school memory book, for the last bench you shared.
Years of uniforms, tiffin swaps and teacher nicknames end on one farewell day. We turn the photos and messages your class collects into a printed book you can keep on a shelf.
- 12 to 20 pages, one book per order
- Photos and messages gathered on WhatsApp
- Preview before printing, delivery across India

Why a school memory book still matters in the age of group chats
Farewell day comes with big promises. For a few weeks the class WhatsApp group buzzes, then board exams, entrance coaching and new cities take over. The group goes quiet, the best photos sit scattered across six different phones, and the last bench becomes a memory nobody can quite put together again. A school memory book collects it all in one place while everyone still remembers who was in which picture.
In many Indian schools the farewell is hosted by the juniors: Class 11 sends off Class 12, and Class 9 sends off Class 10. That makes this book a natural joint project. The outgoing batch supplies photos and messages, the juniors can take charge of the gift, and the school ends up with a keepsake that records the batch in its own words.
Official yearbooks, where they exist, follow the school's template and calendar. A book you plan yourselves can carry what no committee would print: the canteen queue, the substitute teacher who got a new nickname, the bench with carved initials, the teacher everyone secretly adored. It also keeps events in order, from first-day photos to the final group picture, so the story reads properly.
Parents join in too, sometimes ordering for their child's batch or for a favourite class teacher. Whoever starts it, the idea stays the same: collect together, choose carefully, and print something that is still a pleasure to read when the class meets again years later. Because each order is one book, decide early who will keep the copy, or whether friends will order their own.

School farewell memory book ideas by situation
Who is ordering and who the book is for changes how you plan it.
A school memory book for the whole batch
Best for a final-year class that wants one shared record. One or two organisers collect photos and messages, we design the pages, and the finished book goes to a single address, perhaps a class representative's. Each order is one book, so agree early who keeps it, or whether a few friends will order extra copies themselves.
A Class 10 book before the streams split
After the boards, friends drift into science, commerce and arts, often at different schools. A Class 10 book catches the batch just before that happens. Keep it playful: school trips, house competitions, the lab where something once caught fire, and a page where everyone writes which stream or school they are heading to.
A parting gift from the juniors
Because juniors usually host the farewell, the Class 11 or Class 9 team can gift the outgoing batch a book instead of another souvenir. They collect photos of seniors from assemblies, sports day and fests, add a line from each junior section, and hand over the finished book at the farewell programme.
A farewell gift for a class teacher
The teacher who stayed back after hours, or retires this year, deserves more than a pen set; a school memory book from the class says far more. Collect one photo and two lines from each student, add class photos from different years, and open with a note from the class representatives. Students can split the cost, so a 20-page book works out small per head.
A close group's own book
Not everyone wants a whole-class project. Four to six friends can make a book from their own photos: the shared bench, tuition days, canteen samosas, board-exam stress. Small groups agree on photos and captions faster, which keeps the project moving, and the ₹1,199 to ₹1,999 cost is easy to divide.
A parent ordering for a child or class
Parents often hold the best photos, from sports day, annual function and school bus mornings. A parent can build a book covering their own child's school years, or coordinate a class book through the parents' group. Involve the children in writing captions, otherwise the book reads like a parent's album.
What to include in a class memory book in India
A class has too many people and moments for one book, so choose a structure early.
The first-day and last-day photos
In a school memory book, open with the oldest photo you can find of the batch, perhaps from nursery or primary school, and close with the farewell group picture. Placing the small children and the tall seniors on facing pages makes the most moving spread in the book. Ask parents for old class photos if the school has none.
A page for every teacher
Give teachers a spread of their own: a photo, the subject they taught and one line students remember. The maths teacher's catchphrase, the PT sir's whistle, the Hindi madam's stories. Ask each teacher for a short note as well. Teachers often write more freely than students expect, especially when they know it will be printed.
Events, trips and competitions
Annual day, sports meet, inter-house quiz, the picnic where the bus broke down. Pick one photo and one caption per event rather than ten photos of the same stage. A tidy timeline of the school year tells the story faster and leaves room for people, who matter more than programmes.
Nicknames and class traditions
Every batch has its own language: who always arrived late, the dialogue from the farewell skit, the name for the strictest invigilator. Put these on a light-hearted page, something like Our Class Dictionary. They are the details classmates will laugh at in ten years, and outsiders will never quite understand.
Student photos with short messages
With 25 to 40 students, a full page each will not fit in 20 pages, so use a grid: one photo and one short line per student, no more than a sentence. For a larger batch, consider one book per section, or a book just for your own group of friends.
Everyday corners of school life
Photograph the places that vanish after leaving: the canteen counter, the library window, the corridor outside the staff room, the bench with carved initials. Ordinary spots bring back more than posed pictures do. For help choosing between hundreds of images, read our guide on how to make a school or college memory book.
What to write in a school farewell memory book
Good captions make a book people read slowly. Keep them short and true.
Name the people and the year
Write names under group photos from left to right, with the class and year. In a decade nobody will remember who stood in the back row. A caption like Class 9B, annual day 2024 costs five seconds now and saves an argument at the reunion.
Print messages exactly as sent
Tell classmates up front that their line in the school memory book will appear as written, spelling included, so they should proofread before sending. A single sentence is plenty: a favourite memory, a funny moment or a wish. Short lines are easier to design, and they arrive on time far more often than paragraphs do.
Write a short opening note
Open with a note from the class representatives, five or six lines in the batch's own voice. Mention what the school meant, who helped you along and what you hope for when you meet again. Our list of what to write in a memory book has more starting points.
Keep the teasing kind
Teasing is part of school, but a printed school memory book lasts. Avoid captions that embarrass someone who may not enjoy it, and check sensitive photos with the people in them. If a joke needs a long explanation or could hurt, leave it out. The jokes everyone laughs at belong in the book.
Give teachers their own words
Teachers can send a line, a blessing or advice for exams and life. These are the pages students return to after college. If a teacher prefers not to write, ask a class representative to note down what they said at the farewell, with the teacher's permission.
End with a see-you-again line
Close with a line about the next meeting: a reunion date, a city where several of you will study, or a note to be opened in five years. Leave the last page blank for signatures, since classmates can sign by hand when they collect the book together.
How to order a school memory book in India
Everything runs on WhatsApp, and no payment happens on the website.
Appoint one organiser
A class book falters when twenty people send photos to twenty places. Choose one student or parent as the single contact who talks to us. They gather photos and messages from the class and send everything together. Everyone else only deals with the organiser, which keeps corrections and payments clear.
Collect photos in a WhatsApp group
Create a group, or use the class one, and set a deadline. Ask people to send photos as documents, because normal sharing compresses images and prints softer. Expect uneven quality: some photos will be dark or blurry, and the studio will point out the ones that will not print well.
Choose a page count
Twelve pages cost ₹1,199, 14 pages ₹1,399, 16 pages ₹1,599, 18 pages ₹1,799 and 20 pages ₹1,999. A friend group usually fits in 12 to 14 pages, while a whole batch with teachers and events is easier at 18 or 20. Send your photo count and we will suggest one.
Settle the copies question
The studio sells one book per order, so decide in the group beforehand. Many classes order a single book that circulates or stays with the class teacher, while small friend groups order one each. Each extra copy of the school memory book is a separate order. Ask us on WhatsApp if you are unsure what suits your plan.
Check the preview together
We design the layout and send a preview on WhatsApp. Share it with your organiser team and check spellings, class names and photo order. Send one combined list of corrections, since a dozen separate messages cause mistakes. Nothing is printed until you approve the design.
Printing and delivery
After approval the school memory book is printed and sent to the address you give, anywhere in India. Delivery time depends on your city and the print queue, so ask for an estimate instead of assuming. If the farewell date is fixed, and boards come before it, start the collection well in advance.
Photo book prices, simple and upfront.
Every book includes a personalized design, printing and binding for your chosen page count. The studio confirms the final total, delivery charges and finish before you pay. Need a different length? Ask for a custom book. See full pricing.

A school memory book is a printed book of your class or batch: group photos, events, teacher notes and messages from friends. Planned by the students themselves, it can include inside jokes and everyday moments that an official school album would leave out.
How is it different from a school yearbook?
A yearbook is usually produced by the school with a fixed template and cover. Here the students or parents choose the photos, captions and tone. Many batches treat it as a yearbook alternative, while others order it alongside the official album as a more personal companion.
How much does a school memory book cost in India?
A school memory book costs ₹1,199 for 12 pages and ₹1,999 for 20 pages, rising ₹200 for every two extra pages in between. Each order is one book, printed and delivered across India. For a class project, you can split the cost among classmates, or ask a few friends to chip in.
How do we collect photos from the whole class?
Choose one organiser and a WhatsApp group with a clear deadline. Ask classmates to send photos as documents so quality is preserved, plus one line of text each. The organiser sends everything to us together, and we point out any photos that are too small or blurry to print well.
Can we make a 12th farewell memory book for the whole batch?
Yes, though with 12 to 20 pages you will need to choose carefully. Use a grid of student photos with one line each, then spreads for teachers, events and trips. For a very large batch, a book per section or per friend group often looks better.
Can a parent order a school farewell memory book?
Yes. Parents often have the best event photos and can coordinate through the class parents' group. We suggest involving students for captions and messages, so the book sounds like the class and not like an adult's album. Parents can also gift a copy to the class teacher on behalf of the whole group. See also our graduation memory book page.
