Why wedding invitation card design deserves a careful brief

A wedding invitation is the first thing guests see about your celebration, and many families keep it as a memento. Good wedding invitation card design has two jobs: look right for your family and tradition, and give guests the practical details they need, such as dates, venue and timings. A beautiful card that hides the muhurat time or the hall address only creates phone calls.

Most families now send more than one format. A printed card goes to elders and close relatives, while a WhatsApp image, PDF or short video invite reaches friends and relatives in other cities within minutes. Designing both from one concept keeps colours, motifs and wording consistent. It also saves effort, because the same layout can be adapted for the print file, the e-invite and the save-the-date.

Traditions differ across communities and regions, and we treat that with care. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain and other layouts have their own customary openings, symbols and order of text. Ragnar Studios does not decide religious wording for you. Your family supplies the exact text, such as the opening line, names and verses, and our designers set it with correct spelling, spacing and fonts in the layout you choose.

The same care applies to language. Many invitations carry English and Hindi together, or Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali or another script alongside English. Each script needs suitable fonts and line spacing so that it looks balanced and reads clearly. We set the text exactly as you provide it and ask you to proofread, since names and dates must be correct before anything is printed or sent.

What our wedding invitation card design includes

Each project is scoped to your occasion, and these are the usual building blocks.

Custom invitation concept

We start from your colours, venue theme and the mood you want, whether that is a quiet minimal card or a rich traditional one with motifs and borders. You see the front design and the main inside layout first, so you can react to something real. The concept is built for your family, not picked from a fixed catalogue.

Tradition-aware layouts

Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain and other communities follow different customs for how an invitation opens and what symbols appear. Your family tells us what is appropriate and provides the correct text. We handle the layout, spacing and typography, and we do not change or invent religious wording on our own.

Bilingual and regional scripts

We set English with Hindi or a regional language such as Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali or Punjabi, using fonts that suit each script. Line breaks, sizes and alignment are balanced so neither language looks like an afterthought. Please share the final text in a typed or clearly written form to avoid spelling errors.

Ceremony schedule inserts

Weddings often have several functions across days: mehendi, haldi, sangeet, pheras or nikah, reception. Instead of crowding the main card, we can design a separate insert or a clean schedule panel with dates, times and venues. Guests can then find their own function quickly, and the main card stays elegant.

Venue map and QR code

We can add a simple location sketch or a QR code that opens the venue on a maps app, which helps guests travelling from other cities. You provide the venue address and the link. We test the QR code before finalising and place it where it stays scannable when printed at its actual size.

Print-ready files and save-the-date

You receive print-ready PDFs with bleed and crop marks, and web-sized images for sharing. A matching save-the-date can be designed in the same style, so early messages and the final card feel like one set. Printing can be arranged on request, and it is quoted separately from the design work.

Occasions we design invitations for

The same careful process applies to big weddings and small family functions.

Weddings

The full wedding card is the main project, often with an inner page, an envelope idea, a function schedule and a digital version for WhatsApp. We plan these together so they match. Families usually send the printed card to elders and the e-invite to everyone else, and both carry the same names and details.

Engagement and ring ceremonies

Engagements and similar ceremonies often need a lighter, shorter invitation sent quickly, sometimes only digitally. We design a single-page card or a short video invite that matches the later wedding design if you wish. That way the engagement and the wedding feel connected without repeating the same layout.

Mehendi, haldi and sangeet

These functions have a playful mood, and the invitation can reflect it with brighter colours, illustrations and a dress code line. Many families create a separate small invite for each function. We can build them as a family of designs sharing one palette, so guests recognise they belong to the same celebration.

Housewarming

A housewarming or griha pravesh invitation is usually a simple, warm card with the date, muhurat time and address, often with a QR code for the location. We keep it clean and readable for relatives of all ages, in English, a regional language or both, depending on who you are inviting.

Birthdays and anniversaries

From a first birthday to a milestone anniversary, we design cards and digital invites with the right theme, photo placement and event details. Parents often want a quick turnaround for children's parties, so share the date early and we will confirm what is realistic for your scope.

Baby showers and naming ceremonies

Baby showers, godh bharai and naming ceremonies suit soft colours and gentle illustration. We design the card around your theme and add the schedule and venue details. If your family follows specific customs for the wording, you supply the text and we set it neatly in the layout.

How our wedding invitation card design process works

A clear sequence keeps the work calm, especially when many family members give opinions.

Share details and wording

Send the occasion, event dates, venues, languages and the exact text your family wants on the card. Typed text is best, with spellings of names and titles confirmed by the family. If you are still deciding the wording, our blog on invitation wording and design ideas can help you draft it first.

Choose a style direction

Tell us your colours, the feel you want and any reference cards you like. We suggest a direction, such as floral, minimal, traditional motifs or illustrated, and confirm the formats needed: print, PDF, WhatsApp image or video invite. The scope and quote are shared before design work begins.

First layout draft

We prepare the front design and the main inside layout using your text. You review it on your phone or computer and send consolidated feedback. One list of comments from the family works much better than many separate messages, and it helps us keep revisions within the agreed rounds.

Proofread names, dates and venues

Before anything is finalised, we ask you to read every name, date, time, address and phone number slowly. Printed errors are hard to fix, so involve a second family member for checking. We correct whatever you flag, and the approved proof becomes the version used for print and digital files.

Digital versions and extras

Once the card is approved, we adapt it into the WhatsApp image, a PDF with tappable details if needed, and a short video invite if included in the scope. Inserts, the save-the-date and function cards follow the same design so everything you send looks like one coordinated set.

Final files and print handover

You receive print-ready files with bleed and the digital versions in the agreed sizes. If you want us to arrange printing, tell us the paper, quantity and finish you prefer, and we will quote that separately. Order a printed sample first for large runs, since paper and foil can look different from the screen.

How we take your invitation brief

This is exactly how an enquiry becomes a project, step by step.

  1. Send your brief

Fill in the form with the occasion, style, languages and date, or message us on WhatsApp. Reference cards you like are helpful.

  2. Get your quote

We review the details, ask any questions and share a custom quote covering the formats, languages, inserts and revision rounds.

  3. Draft and proofread

After you confirm, we send the first layout. You check every name, date and venue, and give feedback within the agreed rounds.

  4. Files and printing

On approval you receive print-ready and digital files. If you want printing arranged, we quote it separately as requested.

Pricing, timeline and what affects cost

We do not publish a fixed price list for invitations; each quote follows your scope.

Custom quote for invitation design

Ragnar Studios does not publish a fixed price for wedding cards. After we understand the occasion, formats and languages, we share a quote that matches the work involved. You can message us on WhatsApp at +91 92865 18510 or send the form, and we will reply with questions or a proposal.

Digital only or print as well

A single WhatsApp image is a smaller job than a full print package with an inner page, inserts and envelopes. Adding a video invite also adds work. Tell us how your guests will receive the invitation, and we will quote only what you need instead of a bundle you will not use.

Number of pages, inserts and functions

A one-page engagement card and a multi-function wedding set with schedule inserts differ greatly in design time. Each extra page, function card or save-the-date adds layout and proofreading work. Listing every function early helps us give a more accurate quote and design them as a matching family.

Custom artwork versus layout work

Cards built around custom illustration, hand-drawn motifs or the couple's own artwork need more design time than a refined typographic layout. Both can look excellent. Decide how much original artwork you want, and we will explain what each option involves and how it changes the quote.

Languages and revision rounds

Each additional language adds typesetting and proofreading, and complex scripts need extra care. Revision rounds are agreed in the quote, and clear consolidated feedback uses them well. Late changes to names or dates after approval can be handled, though they may count as additional rounds depending on what was agreed.

Printing and timeline

Printing is a separate cost based on paper, size, finish, foil or embossing, and quantity, paid for as quoted. We do not promise a fixed delivery date before seeing your brief. Because wedding dates are fixed, share your timeline early so we can say honestly what is feasible for your scope.

Frequently asked questions.

Still have a question? Ask the studio directly.

What does wedding invitation card design include?

It usually covers the front design, the inside layout, bilingual typesetting, schedule inserts, and files for print and digital use. At Ragnar Studios the exact scope is written in your quote, including formats, languages and revision rounds. A matching save-the-date can be added if you want one.

Can you design for my religion and community customs?

Yes, with your guidance. We design layouts for Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain and other traditions, but your family supplies the exact wording, verses and symbols. We do not write religious text ourselves. We set it carefully, and you proofread it before anything is printed or sent.

Do you design digital invitations for WhatsApp?

Yes. We can prepare a WhatsApp-sized image, a PDF and a short video invite from the same design as your printed card. This keeps colours and wording consistent. Tell us who you will send it to, and we will suggest which formats are actually useful for your guest list.

Can the invitation be in Hindi or a regional language?

Yes. We set English with Hindi or regional scripts such as Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali or Punjabi, using suitable fonts. Please share the final text in typed form and confirm the spellings. We design the layout, and the family remains responsible for the correctness of the wording.

Do you also print the wedding cards?

Our core service is design. Printing can be arranged on request, and it is quoted separately based on paper, size, finish and quantity. We suggest ordering a printed sample first for large orders, because paper and special finishes can look different from the screen preview.

How much does wedding invitation card design cost?

We give a custom quote after understanding your requirements, because cost depends on formats, pages, languages, custom artwork and revisions. Indicative market prices in India vary very widely, so treat any figure online as a rough guide, not a Ragnar quote. Share your brief on WhatsApp or the form.

How early should I start the invitation design?

As early as you can, since families often take time to finalise wording and names. We do not promise a fixed delivery date before seeing your brief, but sharing the event date upfront helps us tell you what is realistic. Allow extra time if you plan to print.
