Why businesses choose WordPress for their website

WordPress is a content management system, which simply means a dashboard where you log in and change text, photos, blog posts and prices without touching code. For most Indian small businesses, that control matters. A salon changing its offers, a clinic adding a new doctor or a trader updating a catalogue should not have to wait for a developer every time.

Good WordPress website development is not just installing a theme. It covers choosing the right theme or page builder, structuring pages so Google can understand them, compressing images, setting up forms that reach your inbox and WhatsApp, and locking the site down. The same software can produce a slow, hacked site or a fast, safe one. The difference is in how it is built.

WordPress also grows with you. You can start with five pages, add a blog next quarter, then switch on WooCommerce when you want to sell online with UPI, cards and cash on delivery. Plugins exist for bookings, memberships, multilingual content and more, though we only add the ones you genuinely need, because every extra plugin is something to keep updated.

WordPress is open-source software, so you are not locked into a closed platform and can usually move hosting or change agencies later. Who holds which logins and accounts is agreed in writing at the start of the project. If you want help with updates and backups after launch, we can discuss that separately. Tell us what you need on WhatsApp and we will suggest the simplest setup that fits.

What you get from WordPress website development

Every project is scoped to your needs, but these are the building blocks we usually work with.

Design that matches your brand

We design your pages around your logo, colours and the way your customers actually decide. That means a clear home page, a services or products page that explains what you do, and a contact page with the details people look for first. Mobile layouts are checked on real phones, not just a resized browser.

Elementor or custom theme

Elementor is a visual page builder that makes later edits easy, and it suits most business sites. If you need something more unusual, we can build a custom theme with only the features you need, which can keep the site lighter. We explain the trade-off in plain words and recommend one.

WooCommerce online store

If you want to sell products, we set up WooCommerce with product categories, variations, cart and checkout. Indian payment options such as UPI, cards and cash on delivery can be connected through the gateway you choose, and GST-friendly invoicing can be planned in from the start.

SEO-ready structure

We set clean URLs, proper headings, image alt text, a sitemap and basic meta titles and descriptions using a standard SEO plugin. We also connect Google Search Console if you want it. This gives search engines a good foundation, but rankings depend on competition, content and time, and we cannot promise any position.

Speed and security care

We aim for lean themes, compressed images, caching and a limited set of trusted plugins to keep pages quick. For security we plan strong admin credentials, login protection, backups and updated core software at launch. No site is completely immune to attacks, but a careful setup reduces common risks.

Handover and walkthrough

Before go-live we walk you through the dashboard: editing a page, adding a blog post, changing a photo and checking form enquiries. You get a short list of what to do and what to avoid. The aim is that routine updates do not need a developer, though complex changes may still need one.

Who WordPress website development suits

WordPress works well across many types of Indian businesses and organisations.

Local service businesses

Clinics, salons, gyms, coaching classes, repair shops and consultants usually need a clear site with services, location, timings, reviews and a call or WhatsApp button. WordPress handles this easily and lets you update offers or timings yourself whenever something changes. It also helps to show a map, a short enquiry form and a few real photos of your work or premises.

Shops moving online

A retailer with a catalogue can start on WooCommerce with a handful of products and add more over time. It is a good fit if you want full control of your store and are comfortable managing orders, or if you prefer to avoid a monthly platform subscription.

Content-led brands and bloggers

WordPress began as a blogging system, and it is still strong at publishing. If your business depends on articles, guides, news or a resource library, categories, tags and scheduled posts are built in, along with good SEO plugin support. Our WordPress website development for publishers also covers readable layouts, related-post sections and a sensible category structure so older articles stay easy to find.

Startups and agencies

A startup often needs a credible marketing site quickly, with room to add a blog, landing pages and a lead form later. WordPress gives you that speed, and the site can sit beside a separate product or app when your needs outgrow it. We keep the structure tidy so marketing pages can be added later without rebuilding the whole site.

Schools, NGOs and institutions

Admissions details, notices, event photos, downloads and contact forms are everyday needs for institutions. WordPress lets several staff members update their own sections with limited permissions, so one person is not a bottleneck for every notice. We can also set up simple downloads sections for forms and circulars, and a notice area that is quick to update. Languages like Hindi can be supported when planned from the start.

Owners of an old WordPress site

If you already have a WordPress site that is slow, outdated, hacked or hard to use, we can review it first. Depending on its condition we may repair and speed it up, or recommend a fresh rebuild. For this kind of WordPress website development work, we tell you which makes more sense before you commit.

How we build your WordPress website

A simple, visible process so you always know what happens next.

1. Requirements call

We start with a conversation on WhatsApp or phone about your business, audience, pages, features and examples of sites you like. We also ask what content you already have. This is where we decide between a page builder and a custom theme. We note your deadlines and approvals process too, so the plan reflects how decisions are actually made in your business.

2. Plan and quote

We share a written scope with the pages, features, plugins and what is not included, along with a custom quote. Domain and hosting are paid to the provider and are separate unless agreed in writing, so ask us what applies to your project. Revision rounds are agreed upfront so both sides know what to expect during the build.

3. Design preview

We prepare the look of your key pages and share it for feedback. You can ask for changes to layout, colours and wording within the agreed revision rounds. Seeing real pages early avoids surprises later. We also confirm fonts, button styles and image choices here, so the rest of the pages follow one consistent look.

4. Build and content

We build on a test version of the site, add your content, connect forms, and set up SEO basics, caching and security. If you send text and photos late, the timeline moves, so we keep content requests clear and early. Wherever possible we use your own photos and wording, since real content builds more trust.

5. Testing

Before launch we test on different phones and browsers, check every form and link, run speed checks, and confirm that backups work. If you have a shop, we place test orders with the payment method you selected. We also check that enquiries land in the right inbox, and that thank-you messages and spam protection work properly.

6. Launch and walkthrough

We take the site live, connect your domain, and submit the sitemap if you want it. Then we walk you through the dashboard and agree who holds which logins. Ongoing maintenance, if you want it, is discussed as a separate arrangement. Our process ends when you are comfortable using the dashboard.

How we take your WordPress brief

This is exactly how an enquiry becomes a project.

Send your brief

Fill in the form below or message us on WhatsApp with your website type, pages and features. Sample sites you like are very helpful.

We review and call

We read your brief, check anything unclear and talk through options, such as page builder or custom theme and WooCommerce or not.

Written quote

You get a custom quote with the scope, what is included and what is not. Work starts only after you approve it.

Build, review, handover

We build, share previews, make agreed changes, launch and train you on the dashboard.

WordPress website development cost and timeline

There is no fixed Ragnar price list for custom WordPress website development; each project gets a quote after requirements.

Number of pages and sections

A five-page brochure site takes far less work than a 40-page site with service pages, location pages and a blog. More templates, more content entry and more design variations all add effort. Tell us the page list and we will quote against it. Extra languages multiply the page count, so decide early whether you need Hindi or other regional versions.

Theme, builder or custom code

Using a ready theme with Elementor is usually quicker than building a custom theme from scratch. Custom code is worth it when you need unusual layouts or very tight performance, but it increases scope and cost. Whatever we choose, we avoid heavy add-ons that slow down mobile loading.

Features and plugins

A contact form is simple. Booking, membership, multilingual pages, a quote calculator or WooCommerce with many variations are not. Some premium plugins also need an annual licence, which is paid to the plugin maker and is separate from our fee. Each feature also needs testing, so a long wish list affects both cost and timeline. We suggest launching with essentials and adding more later.

Content and design depth

If you already have text and photos, the project moves faster. If we need to arrange copy, edit images or create illustrations, that is extra work. Custom animations and detailed layouts also take longer than clean standard sections. Clear approvals from your side help avoid extra revision rounds that stretch the schedule.

Indicative market ranges

Typical market ranges in India vary widely: a simple business site may cost from a few thousand to tens of thousands of rupees, while larger WooCommerce stores cost much more. Treat this as a rough guide, not a Ragnar quote. For a simple 5-page site we also have a fixed-price option, so ask us.

Timeline and ongoing costs

Timelines depend on scope, how quickly you approve designs and when content arrives; we do not promise a fixed date before understanding the project. After launch, expect yearly domain and hosting costs, plus any premium plugin licences, paid to those providers. Maintenance such as updates and backups can be arranged separately if you prefer not to handle it.

Frequently asked questions.

Still have a question? Ask the studio directly.

How much does WordPress website development cost in India?

There is no single price. The cost depends on the number of pages, design depth, features, plugins and content. Market ranges vary widely, from a few thousand rupees for a very basic site to much more for stores and custom work. At Ragnar Studios we give a custom quote after understanding your requirements.

Is WordPress good for a small business website?

Yes, in most cases, WordPress website development is a sensible choice for small businesses. It is easy to edit, has strong SEO tools, and can start small and grow into a blog or online store. It does need regular updates and backups, so plan for that. If your needs are highly unusual, we will tell you honestly if another approach fits better.

Should I use Elementor or a custom theme?

Elementor suits most business sites because it lets you edit layouts visually and is faster to build with. A custom theme can be lighter and more tailored, but takes longer and costs more. We recommend one after hearing your pages, features and future plans.

Can you build a WooCommerce store on WordPress?

Yes. We can set up WooCommerce with products, categories, cart, checkout, shipping settings and payment gateways such as UPI and cards, depending on the provider you choose. Gateway fees are charged by the provider. If you prefer a hosted platform instead, we also build Shopify stores.

Will my WordPress website be secure and fast?

We aim for a careful setup: lean themes, limited trusted plugins, caching, image compression, backups, login protection and updated software at launch. This reduces common risks and helps pages load quickly, but no website can be called completely unhackable, and speed also depends on your hosting plan.

Can I update the website myself after launch?

Yes, that is a main reason to choose WordPress. We give you a walkthrough of editing pages, adding blog posts, changing images and reading form enquiries, and we agree who holds the logins. If you would rather not do it yourself, we can discuss a separate support arrangement for updates.

Do you provide domain and hosting?

Domain and hosting are paid to the provider and are separate unless agreed in writing. Ask us what applies to your project and we will explain the options. Whose name the domain is registered in is something we agree in writing at the start, so there is no confusion later.
